Accessibility
This module will introduce the participant to laws and regulations related to making online and blended learning materials accessible to all students. In general, teachers are made aware of student disabilities by the IEP (Individualized Education Plan). However, many students have disabilities that go undiagnosed or unknown, such as color blindness or impaired hearing. Teachers following the Universal Design principles are ensuring that all students have accessible curriculum. By the conclusion of this module, you will have reflected on your own accessibility practices and created a video assignment with accompanying captions and a transcript.

Portfolio Reflection
As I have previously shared, I am an administrator and not involved in the classroom, virtual or otherwise. I visit our virtual Learning Labs, understand the basics of the curriculum we offer our scholars, but am not actively involved or, as I sometimes say, in the weeds. I am a firm believer in supporting all scholars with their learning, and once ran for school board on the platform of mainstreaming our classrooms (Michigan, 2002).
I was looking at the iNACOL Standard F for this reflection. The ah ha moment for me was we do try to do each of these things, but do not always take a step back to reflect on whether we are actually doing them or not. We get excited with new tools, programs, toys and software, but do we step back to see if they are meeting the unique needs of all learners, or each learner? I thought we were, until this module and its refresher. It was an ah ha moment.
I am proud of what we provide our scholars. Just as I am proud that my team is taking a step back to reflect and think through other ways we can support our scholars after this refresher. Yes - we are meeting Standard F, but could be doing more. It'll take some time. We have to collect our thoughts and share them with our partners to see where systematic change can be made, and then where local updates should be made to ensure all scholars have the access they need to be successful.
