What a spring! My first course of 2017 at San Diego State was School Improvement Leadership, with Jessica McCreary (Momentum Learning Interim Executive Director) and Sheelagh Moran (San Diego County Office of Education Principal in Residence). This was one of my favorite classes in my Master of Educational Leadership program at SDSU.
This particular course focused on school improvement through data. And not the gathering of data, but on understanding the data you have and utilizing that data to make informed educational decisions. I am most excited to take what I have learned on the deployment and use of Professional Learning Communities back to Compass Charter Schools to help us move to the next level of using and understanding data.
I enjoyed learning from my peers, sharing ideas and best practices to improve our schools. There are so many opportunities for school improvement, and it is this concept of school improvement leadership that will help guide the direction of the school to implement the ideas.
It is truly rewarding to be able to learn with my cohort, my peers! Thank you Jessica, Sheelagh, and my cohort, for the start to a great final semester at SDSU!
